Do you have any professional qualifications?
Yes. I have a B.A. in Music Education from Central Washington University and certifications to teach PreK-12th grade in instrumental music, general music, and choral music.
How long have you been teaching?
If you count my paid teaching experience--including private lessons, public school teaching, substitute teaching, and clinician work--it goes back to 2016. If you include all teaching experience (paid and otherwise), it goes back to 2009.
Do you offer in-person lessons, online lessons, or both?
I offer in-person music lessons from my home studio in Bellevue, Washington, about three blocks southeast of the Redmond Microsoft Campus.
What ages and experience levels do you teach?
I teach beginner lessons on flute, clarinet, trumpet, and trombone, and I offer more advanced flute lessons. I welcome students ages 4 through 100+ -- including adult beginners.
How much do lessons cost, and what's included?
Lesson options and pricing vary by the service. Payments are accepted through Stripe when booking through Trio??? Lesson fees are treated as a fixed subscription and are paid by the 1st of each month for that month's lessons. Flexible lessons are offered during the summer months.
All lessons are tailored to each student's goals, skill level, and age. I recommend starting with a 30-minute introductory lesson. After that, 60-minute lessons are given at a set time every week of the studio's operations. For more information, please look over the Studio Policy.
Why do flute services cost more than the other instruments?
My teaching approach goes beyond planning and instruction. Effective teaching involves learning, practice, reflection, and ongoing feedback. While I teach multiple instruments, flute is my primary instrument, which means I bring extensive, specialized experience to every lesson.
Do you offer private lessons, group classes, or both?
I offer private lessons and partner lessons. Private lessons are taught one-on-one, while partner lessons are for two students per instructor. Partner lessons are more affordable per student, making it an option for clients on a tighter budget to team up, or it can be a wonderful option for students who benefit from learning with a peer--especially if confidence is still developing.
For partner lessons, the students should be at a similar level of ability. If there are multiple families participating in a partnership, one client is designated as the payee, and the families can coordinate payment arrangements directly with each other.
I also teach beginning band classes when opportunities arise, depending on community interest, venue availability, and organizing needs. If you're interested in something like a beginning band program for adults, I'd love to connect and explore whether we can make it happen.
What are your policies for cancellations and rescheduling?
I do not offer makeup lessons, but I have practice notes ready for this week so we can keep the momentum. We will pick everything up at our regular time next week.
Do you teach during the holidays/summer?
For 2026, the studio will be closed during the following weeks: 3/22-4/4, 7/19-9/1, 9/20-10/3, and 12/20-1/2/2027. All other weeks, including holidays that fall on that week, will be open for business.
Do you have performance experience?
I have performance experience across classical recitals, concert bands, pit orchestras, flute choirs, jazz ensembles, folk groups, weddings, and workplace events/parties.
